American Heart Association to hold Healthy Food Access Lobby Day

On Thursday, May 4, volunteers and healthy food advocates from across the state will converge on Lansing to talk to lawmakers about the importance of eating healthy and the need to expand healthy food access to urban and rural communities across the state.

Right now 1.8 million people in Michigan, including 300,000 children, don’t have access to healthy, nutritious foods because they live too far from a large grocery store, and nearby corner stores don’t stock fresh produce. The American Heart Association’s Healthy Food Access Campaign aims to increase opportunities for corner stores to expand access to healthy foods across Michigan.
